Amanda Benzin


Principal Dancer

AMANDA BENZIN is a native of Buffalo, New York.

She graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a minor in Business Administration. During her time at SUNY Buffalo, she performed with the celebrated Zodiaque Dance Company and the Zodiaque Studio Dance Ensemble. In addition to being a company member, she was chosen to perform in and choreograph for many departmental productions, including the Tenth Anniversary of Young Choreographers' Showcase. Upon graduation, Amanda moved to New York City and performed with the Vissi Dance Theatre and modern choreographer, Brandon Ellis. In addition to performing, Amanda has also been teaching jazz, tap, ballet, hip-hop, modern, and creative movement to children of all ages in local studios, a pre-school for developmentally and physically disabled children and public schools across New York. She is currently teaching at Kaleidoscope Dance and Movement Center in Skokie, IL. Amanda is honored to share the 2006-2007 Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement for Individual Excellence On Camera/Performer with JRJP for their work in the multiple-Emmy-Award-winning documentary Jump Rhythm Jazz Project: Getting There, produced by HMS Media for public television. Amanda thanks the many people in her life who have continued to support her along this journey.
