Kari Knudson Christopher

Principal Dancer

KARI KNUDSON CHRISTOPHER, originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, earned her communication studies degree from Northwestern University where she began studying dance with Billy Siegenfeld in 1993.

While at NU she performed in Billy's works as a part of NU's Danceworks productions and had her choreography presented in student and faculty productions as well. Following graduation from NU, Kari served the West Town community of Chicago as an Americorps volunteer and acted as the Dance Coordinator of the Integrated Arts Program at the Northwestern University Settlement House. Kari made her professional dance debut with JRJP in December of 1996 and has since led JRJP residencies and taught the Jump Rhythm Technique in Chicago, at Universities in Virginia, Iowa, California, Kansas, at the New Orleans Jazz Dance Festival. She has assisted Billy in setting his choreography on JazzWorks Dance Company in Madison, Wisconsin and in January 2002 performed her first JRJP duet show with Billy Siegenfeld at Duke University. Later that year, Kari returned to Northwestern University's dance program to teach the intermediate-advanced level of Jump Rhythm Technique. She loves making rhythm with this beautiful group of people but due to the growth of her family, is currently on leave to nurture her two little ones, Kellen and Livia. She plans to return to her Jump Rhythm family very soon.
